We adopted our sweet girl Cali (aka Cali-gator) from It Takes A Village back in 2019. We had a great adopting experience with ITAV. We felt well vetted without it being a complicated process. Cali's foster mom is amazing and has fostered over 100 dogs. She had us come over and meet Cali and introduce her to one of our other dogs and the meet and greet went well and we took her home same day. We have kept in touch with her foster mom on social media and she has even been to the house to visit Cali. The ladies who run ITAV are the hardest working women in rescue. I am happy to continue to donate to this rescue and highly recommend them. We are very grateful to ITAV for rescuing Cali off the street - helping her have babies - neutering her and then letting us add her to our family.

A few months after saying goodbye to our 14-year-old cattle dog, we found ourselves looking a photo of a young blue heeler named Bruce on Petfinder. He was rescued by ITAV and we knew he was meant to join our family. We were impressed with the staff's commitment to ensuring he was going to a good home, including assessing our understanding his breed-specific needs. In a few days it will be two years since we adopted Baylee from It takes a village rescue and everyday we are thankful that she is a part of our family. From the first time I saw her picture on your website I knew she was the right dog for our family. I reached out and spoke with Shannon, she gave me honest and informative answers to my questions and within a week we were driving down to pick Baylee up. She was the sweetest little puppy and slept in my son’s arms the whole ride home. Baylee has the best temperament, she gets along with every dog and person she meets. She loves to play, loves walks and loves to just lay by my side. I am so thankful for It takes a village rescue and Shannon for saving Baylee and helping us to adopt her.

I started volunteering with It Takes a Village Rescue when they opened in 2017. I tried fostering but really couldn't because my dog didn't want other dogs in the house. So I did transport, helped with auctions, just about everything on and off through the years.

When my old grouchy man passed away in May of 2022, I went one week without a dog. I called Lori, I asked if she had any blue pitt puppies in rescue at the moment.

A foster had just picked up 19 puppies a day or so before, they all came from the same time back yard. There were two moms with all of these puppies with no food or water in site.
Fast forward, I messaged the fostering, and went to meet the blue ones. I had already been sent a picture of the two girls and I was already in love.

Macie was my first choice from first sight. But then as I got to know their personalities, I was torn.

But in my heart of hearts, I knew Macie was meant to be mine. She is my best friend.
I have personally witnessed many dogs get adopted through It Takes a Village Rescue. I truly like that me, as a foster, gets to be able to meet the person will provide a forever home to the foster that grown to love.

We adopted Ruby 1 year and 3 months ago. It’s hard to believe she hasn’t always been our baby. She was approximately 3 years old, boxer mix, deaf and an incredibly sweet soul. It was such a great experience working with It Takes a Village! The process was straightforward and they kept in touch and let us know the status and best of all they made sure we were the right family for Ruby and her us. I loved the fact that we got to spend some time with her getting to know her prior to making a decision. And her foster mom was amazing! She shared everything about Ruby and it was clear that she loved her! She is a true foster mom. Rescue babies are by far the best and this rescue is amazing!!!

It Takes a Village helps so many dogs in the Fayetteville, Sanford, and surrounding areas. I am thankful they rescued Maggie, my 13-year-old foster-fail Lab. Without them, Maggie may not have lived the additional 2 ½ years she deserved.

Maggie had been attacked by neighbor dogs and surrendered due to her injuries. After surgery and healing, she came to my home to be fostered. About a month into fostering, we had an appointment to check on her healing and a vet tech said to me “I can’t believe this is THE Maggie, she has life in her eyes again!” That was the moment I decided to adopt her and give her a permanent home to live out her remaining days.

I am lucky to have had 2 ½ years with Maggie, who was the sweetest dog and so loving to her dog and cat siblings! I highly recommend adopting from It Takes a Village as they make the process very easy, and you can tell the love they have for saving lives!
