It Takes A Village Rescue will consider adoptive families in North Carolina and surrounding areas only. This is simply due to logistics and distance of travel for our volunteers. Our goal is to make the best rescue match taking into consideration the animal's background and your family's needs. Every animal is different: personality, temperament, energy, comfort with kids and other animals, medical needs and more. We take all these factors into consideration when making a furever-home match. We are very careful about the placements we make. We do our best to match the right animal with the right adoptive home because we want this to be the pet's permanent home.
“We adopted Rudy aka Monkey 2 years ago. He has filled our life with so much joy and happiness. He has so much personality and entertains us all the time. We love him so much. Thank you for all you do.”
"I adopted Munch Labor Day weekend, and while it has only been less than six months, I can’t imagine a time when he wasn't a member of the family! Munch is truly a success story. After being pulled from a shelter by It Takes a Village, he spent some time with his wonderful foster parents before finding his forever home.Since being adopted, he has blossomed into a phenomenal dog and has really come into his own. We had some learning curves in the beginning, but every day has brought about a new adventure. Munch is an absolute favorite at doggy daycare and never meets a stranger! The once sad faced rescue pup is now a regular at Tuesday night Trivia at a local brewery and an avid shopper at all stores doggy friendly…anywhere he can go to get a treat or make a new friend! Thanks to It Takes a Village, I was able to find my best friend!Mr. Munch, affectionately known as: Munchmallow, Munch Munch, Munchie and in the rare instance he is in trouble: Montgomery. I cannot express to you enough my love for this dog. Thank you so much for saving him!"
"Petey has been the best dog. He was 11 months when we adopted him in 2020. Prior to getting him the fosters and rescue were able to tell us that he was house trained, friendly with dogs and kids, and that he rode well in the car. He loves going places. We have road tripped to beaches, the mountains, Pennsylvania, Georgia, South Carolina, and Florida. Wherever we go he’s up for it and we take him everywhere that we can. We often get compliments on how well behaved he is. He is friendly with people of all ages and he goes to daycare to play with this friends. We completed the Embark DNA test and the results said that he is 100% American Pit bull Terrier. We are so thankful for It Takes A Village Rescue for pulling him from the shelter. We cannot imagine our lives without Petey!"
We appreciate you wanting to bring an It Takes A Village dog into your home. In order for us to find the right pet for you, we need you to submit an adoption application.
There is a $10 donation made at the time of application. Each application takes about an hour for our team to complete. Though that may not seem like a lot of time, time in rescue is always sparse rescue is a 24/7 commitment. The fee also allows us to devote our time to applicants like you who are seriously committed to providing a home to one of our dogs. Things to know BEFORE you apply:
We will review your application upon receipt. If we have any questions or concerns, we will contact you for clarity.
Once your application review is complete, a It Takes A Village Rescue volunteer will contact you with steps to complete a virtual home check. During the home check, we look for potential hazards for the animal that the adopter may not have considered.
Once approved to adopt, the search for your animal begins. The rescue will call and discuss the dog you applied for and other potential matches. The foster family will reach out to set up a meet and greet.
