Why Do Rescues Have Adoption Fees?

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help It Takes A Village Rescue cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the pets.

Adoption Fees:

  • $350-$400 - under 1 year. Puppies too small to spay/neuter will be neutered by the rescue or will have $100 refunded once spayed/neutered and adopter provides proof (rescue has sole discretion on avenue used). Spay/Neuter REQUIRED by 6 months of age.
  • $250-$300 adult large breed dogs (over 1 year)
  • $350 -$400- Adult Small Breed Dogs
  • Cats $125-includes spay/neuter

*Fees for Dogs with special needs will be determined based upon circumstances and may result in a fee reduction.

Adoption Inclusions:

Along with daily care costs, the adoption fees help It Takes A Village cover vaccination and medical prep costs for the dogs. At adoption, ITAVR dogs will be current on their vaccines and will have the following:

  • Rabies (1 yr. or 3 yr.) if age appropriate
  • Distemper/Parvo (DHLPP or DHLPP-C)
  • Bordetella-if age appropiate
  • Heartworm test-dogs over 6 months
  • Preventions while in rescue care
  • Altered - Dogs over 6 months-Females Spayed or Males Neutered
    Dogs under 6 months-rescue will set the appointment and cover the cost of spay or neuter at one of their rescue friendly vets. This may require you to travel to one of our vets. If an out of state adoption is approved, we will require a neuter/spay deposit refundable after completion BY 6 MONTHS of age. Please discuss this with us to learn more. Spaying or neutering is required to finalize the adoption and any dog that misses it’s scheduled appointment will immediately be returned to the rescue
