Meet Petey- the best dog you will find. Listens, gentle, calm, quiet, and fully trained. Petey is a true unicorn in that he has no flaws, but life changing benefits for his adopter(s).
Petey is around 4. We think he’s a lab/german shepherd mix. So smart and so handsome!
Petey was found in Fayetteville with a dangling front leg bone. He has been through so much and is very close to finishing his medical.
Petey is house trained.
Crate trained. Vicious sounding bark to deter intruders (wouldn’t hurt a fly). He is great with all animals and ages of humans.
He loves loves loves a good stuffy toy to carry around proudly. Petey gets a bit growly over his newly discovered toy obsesssion, but has never done anything more than growl. He is super easily corrected, but he will need some time to adjust if his new sibling(s) love toys as much. Not a big risk, as he is currently bossed around by 10lb and 14lb dogs! He loves a soft dog bed. The bigger the better! Great car rider- he begs to go along!
Would make a wonderful therapy dog. Petey is fostered with 2 small dogs and is quiet as a mouse when left at home with them. When he is fully left alone he does a howl sort of noise. It may resolve or it may stay.
Petey has little limitations with being a tripod, except he doesn’t have any interest in long hikes. He’s still building muscle and stamina.
Petey comes with a small catch: because of having 2 surgeries already, we elected to do slow kill heartworm treatment. Vet wasn’t thrilled about normal heartworm injections in his hips when his front end has had so much trauma. This just means that Petey will be “foster to adopt” so we ensure we hand over a fully vetted dog. He’s fully vetted otherwise.
You’ve heard of a unicorn dog, and this is it! 💙
