💛 Meet Timon!
Timon is a shelter rescue who was saved by It Takes A Village Rescue, NC just in the nick of time! This handsome boy is as gorgeous on the inside as he is on the outside. His rich, dark chocolate and white coat is as soft and warm as his heart, and the way he melts beside you in bed at night or beside you on the couch will melt you too.
Timon is a sweet, loyal, eager-to-please boy who has quickly become his foster mama’s shadow, following her wherever she goes. He seems to be a mix of Labrador Retriever, maybe Border Collie, possibly a touch of hound, giving him a well-rounded, loving, and intelligent personality. He’s very smart, lightning fast, loves zoomies, enjoys water, and is wonderfully respectful of other pets and animals. The cats rule him around here.
If you’re a sucker for cute quirks, Timon is the king of cuteness with his classic little head tilts at new sounds. It’s impossible not to smile when he does it!
Timon is still a puppy at heart with plenty of energy but he is past the early puppy stages as he settles gently into the next stage. He’d thrive with an active person or family who can channel that energy into walks, play , or a “job” that keeps his mind busy. He would absolutely love another playful dog in the home, one who can match his energy and share in his joyful play style.
He’s cat tested and approved, and he’s gentle with his feline foster siblings. He also shows little interest in chasing squirrels or wildlife. Timon has been neutered and is doing great with potty training. He just needs continued consistency to fully master it. He’s very food motivated, which makes him an excellent candidate for positive reinforcement training.
While Timon isn’t a big fan of the crate (understandable, after his shelter days), he’s learning through positive reinforcement. He would do best in a home where someone is home often or where he can safely spend time outside the crate once he settles in.
Timon also truly thrives when he’s able to sleep close to his people. He’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply and finds comfort in snuggling up at bedtime. He’s a world class snuggler, the kind who presses close, sighs contentedly, and brings a sense of calm and peace to whoever he’s with. He sleeps soundly through the night without any accidents, content to know he’s safe and loved. He’s not a dog who wants to be alone at night; being near his person helps him feel secure and at home.
Timon is a wonderful family dog who would grow beautifully alongside his people. He’s never met a stranger and would happily greet every guest at a holiday gathering. Because he still has some “puppy manners,” including jumping up when he’s excited, he’d benefit from gentle, consistent training. His enthusiasm comes purely from love, but he may be a bit strong for small children or older adults until he learns his manners.
With a little continued guidance, Timon will make an incredible lifelong companion. He’s that once-in-a-lifetime kind of dog, loyal, affectionate, and full of heart. Whoever adopts him is truly getting a best friend for life. 🐾💛
